 Union to form an artificial reef. Lies on sand in about 30m
 of water.
 Aubrey   Cape Point   South west of (a   Vessel foundered after a timber in the bow came away.    1991/07/12
 few nautical miles)   Crew saved and no lives lost.

 Basuto Coast   Sea Point   Sea Point   Ran aground on the Mouille Point/Cape Town side of the   1954/05/19
 Swimming Pavilion   Swimming Pavilion. Vessel was badly holed and could not
 be refloated. Was cut up and removed within weeks. No
 crew lost, but fireman drowned.

 Ex Durness; Basuto
 Bia   Olifantsbos   Albatross Rock   Vessel ran onto Albatross Rocks after dark, apparently   1917/09/18
 due to faulty seamnship in not giving this dangerous
 stretch of coastline a wide enough berth.

 Axel Johansson, captain of the Clara, worked in very
 dangerous conditions, in shallow water for more than four
 hours to rescue the crew. Only 4 lives were lost - three
 when a boat overturned - thanks to his efforts.


 Bidston   Witsand   Witsand   Coming into Table Bay in a south-easterly breeze, when   1843/09/12
 she grounded at Witsand at 5am. Was got off and towed
 to the anchorage by the steamer Phoenix.

 Bluff   Bakoven   1 km south of Beta   Lost in thick fog. The cook drowned. 1km south of Beta   1966/03/30
 Road   Road.  Large rock, 4m high, flat top - site of wreck.
 Remains lie 20m away on the Sea Point side. Navypos
 describes the wreck as follows: (PA) BLUFF South African
 Trawler tonnage 262 gross  Length 126ft beam 24ft

 Bos 400   Maori Bay   Duiker Point   Ran aground on rocks above the Oakburn (1909) after it   1994/06/27
 towing cable to the Russian tug Tigre parted for thre
 second time in a north-westerly storm.

 The crew of 18 were rescued by helicopter.
