               About 8.30 am. on 17 December 1965 a 32-foot cutter of a design tested and tried, left Simon’s
               Town under sail on a training cruise; two hours later she was becalmed in Fish Hoek Bay; by
               noon  she  was  battered  and  dismasted  on  the  rocks  north  of  Kalk  Bay,  all  but  four  of  her
               complement of 11 having drowned, notwithstanding the efforts of rescuers, one of whom lost his
               life.
